‘Trifecta: Artwork, Science, Patron’ Exhibition

The La Jolla Historic Society presents “Trifecta: Artwork, Science, Patron”Native artists and Salk Institute for Organic Research scientists collaborate on this interdisciplinary venture that was impressed by the visionary present of the Jacobs household.

The Joan Klein and Irwin Mark Jacobs Senior Scientist Endowed Chair Problem started in 2008 to encourage donors to ascertain endowed chairs in assist of Salk scientists for his or her excellent contributions to organic analysis. For each $2 million in donor contributions towards a chair, the Jacobs added $1 million to realize the $3 million required for a full endowment, and the Jacobs Problem is answerable for 18 of the 31 chaired positions to this point.

Ten San Diego artists explored the curiosities of analysis practiced by these endowed-chair Salk scientists, and the ensuing new paintings they created is the topic of this exhibition.

Introduced coincidentally within the wake of the pandemic, and in the course of the restoration from its impacts, this venture focuses consideration on scientific discoveries in biology very important to human existence, the patrons whose assist is foundational to this vital analysis, and the artists who deliver expression and perception to each. The juxtaposition of latest artwork and organic analysis aspires to interact the broader public in dialogue and a renewed appreciation for creativity, science, and philanthropy.
