The Green Box Arts Festival is back in Green Mountain Falls, after the pandemic decimated most of its annual events last summer. Southport Plein Arts Festival to feature live music, art and more


SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — More than 50 artists will be heading to Brunswick County to take part in the Southport Plein Air Festival this weekend.

Hosted by Up Your Arts and the City of Southport, the 2-day event is an outdoor painting festival.

“Artists come into town and literally paint the town including the landmarks and other things on canvas,” said Up Your Arts Organizer Ken Schnedetz.

The public will be able to walk around town and talk with artists while they’re painting.

Festival Ballet Providence is back with first live show in 16 months

PROVIDENCE — The last time Festival Ballet Providence dancers performed live was February 2020, but as the state eases COVID-19 restrictions, the company is back with the aptly named production “Emergence.”

This is a wonderfully diverse program of five short works that feature both classic and contemporary choreography, music and costumes to match, from tutus to sweatpants, socks to toe shoes.

Fresh Paint Festival cuts ribbon on 10 murals celebrating Springfield

After a year away due to the pandemic, the Fresh Paint Mural Festival kicked off June 5 with an ambitious agenda of creating 10 large murals on 10 spaces in the downtown and Mason Square sections of Springfield inside of a week. On Saturday morning the final touches to the last pieces were laid down, ready for an afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Three Rivers Arts Festival brings live music, art and food back to the Cultural District

Pittsburghers following the sound of live music booming from the speakers along Ft. Duquesne Boulevard will find that Pittsburgh’s local art scene has come back to life this summer for one of the first large events since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
