Coppell Arts Center — the multi-purpose state-of-the-art facility that will bring locally and nationally recognized music, dance, theater and visual arts performances and programs to North Texas — announced last week its official opening weekend celebration, “Takeoff: Arts and Music Festival,” has been scheduled for Sept. 9-12.

Walk-in tattoo event gives local community a way to support victims of sexual assault

In an effort to raise money for victims of sexual assault, community members had their bodies marked with ink at the Still Not Asking For It tattoo flash event on Sunday.

Sexual assault victims and their allies gathered from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at La Grande Tattoo located at 1820 NE 2nd St., to choose one of 23 tattoo designs. 

Kristyn Lopez, a UF art education graduate student and tattoo artist, co-owns the shop with her husband Jesus Lopez. The shop opened in March, making the Still Not Asking For It event its first formal appearance to the community.

Artists for San Angelo’s 2021 En Plein Air event to be revealed Friday

There will be red carpet and spotlights, champagne, charcuterie and chocolate. Cameras will roll as guests arrive in their artsiest outfits. And of course, there will be drama and suspense.

On Friday, June 11, the artists for the 2021 EnPleinAirTEXAS event will be announced Oscar-style at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. Guests to the museum will be face-to-face in the Oscar-style setting from 6:30 to 9 p.m. “The Envelope, Please” is the reveal of 30 artists chosen to come to San Angelo in October to paint “en plein air,” the French term for painting outdoors.

Rockford’s 4th of July event schedule released

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford’s 4th of July event schedule has been released.

Main roads in and around downtown will begin to shut down at 3:30 p.m. for the parade. Several hundred motorcycles will lead off the parade route at 4:40 p.m. with the main parade beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The parade route will form on 7th Street and 6th, 5th, and 4th Avenues. The route will proceed north on 7th Street to State Street and West on State Street, crossing bridge and continuing down State until Church Street.

The Bronx Youth Empowerment Program will be hosting its 15th Youth Speaks 2021 forum on Wednesday, May 19, at 4 p.m. According to organizers, this year’s forum will be centered on music and art, as program participants will be joined by a dynamic guest panel.
