Coppell Arts Center — the multi-purpose state-of-the-art facility that will bring locally and nationally recognized music, dance, theater and visual arts performances and programs to North Texas — announced last week its official opening weekend celebration, “Takeoff: Arts and Music Festival,” has been scheduled for Sept. 9-12.

Fitness Arts Center entertains with Irish dance in local, out-of-state venues – The Madison Record

MADISON – With COVID-19’s constraints drastically reduced, Fitness Arts Center has scheduled a wide range of classes and is planning for performances this fall in the art of Irish dancing.

Twelve years ago, owner Brandan Newman opened the studio. “When I moved here from out of state, I noticed there was a lack of anything to do with Irish dancing,” Newman said. “I had already been teaching for 10 years and had danced in a professional Irish dance company in Las Vegas when I was younger.”

Art center among 5 historic preservation projects to receive grant money

The Muscatine Art Center, a department of the City of Muscatine, has received a $122,402 grant to restore the historic 1929 Japanese Garden installed by Laura Musser McColm.

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs announced the funding award as one of five historic preservation projects receiving a combined total of $600,000 in grant awards, a news release says. The other funded projects will take place in or near Creston, Decorah, Elkader, and Keokuk.

Mendon father Legoland Discovery Center Master Model Builder

SOMERVILLE — Wednesday afternoon found Mendon resident Dylan Ritchotte snapping tiny, colorful bricks together against the clock and four other competitors, part of a unique interview to find Legoland Discovery Center Boston’s next Master Model Builder.

“My entire life I have been obsessed with Legos,” said Ritchotte, 32. “Ever since I was little …. Every birthday, every holiday … I got Lego.”

Legoland’s Master Model Builder runs classes and events at its Somerville building, as well as being responsible for designing, building and repairing all the models, from miniature scale models to life-size, “organic” attractions, according to the job description.
