Noted painter S Elayaraja, who was known for reintroducing realism in portrait painting in Tamil Nadu, passed away on June 7 due to COVID. He was just 42 years old.

Belmar Public Library’s Youth Art Workshop: Delving Into the Distinctive Style of Graffiti Artist Keith Haring

BELMAR, NJ — Young artists will explore the graffiti mastery of pop artist Keith Haring during the June 11 session of Belmar Public Library’s Youth Art Appreciation Program.

During the 1980s, Haring became known for his distinctive New York City subway and street drawings — utilizing outlines, figures, symbols and other stylized images — which paved the way for his recognition in the art world.

Participants in this final live-instruction session of the program will examine how he combined fine art and a street-style of art known as graffiti.

Artist marks Tulsa Race Massacre centennial with art project at church

TULSA — A fire seems to be burning on the historic walls of the Vernon AME Church.

But the grasping flames and roiling smoke soon are overtaken by more peaceful images: A boy fervently singing, a mother holding her child in her lap, riders guiding their horses around a corral.
